Exploring Behavior & Design Thinking

In this webinar we will explore how the concepts of design thinking can aide educators in tackling barriers in providing effective behavior support in schools. Design thinking is a collaborative and creative process used to address challenges. Design thinking includes building empathy & understanding of the problem, engaging in ongoing feedback & reflection, and implementing iterative solutions.
Our guest expert for this webinar is Dr. Julie Schell. Dr. Schell is the Executive Director of Extended and Executive Education for the School of Design and Creative Technologies at The University of Texas at Austin, where she is also an Assistant Professor of Practice in both the School of Design and the College of Education. She is an expert in the psychology of human learning and in the pedagogy of design thinking. She has published and spoken nationally and internationally on the teaching and learning of design thinking. Dr. Schell has worked with several Fortune 500 companies including AT&T, Southwest Airlines, and Charles Schwab to learn and increase the uptake of design thinking using state of the art learning science. She is the creator of Think Before You Design ThinkTM , a popular introductory human-centered design course she first launched at AT&T in 2018. Dr. Schell teaches graduate courses at The University of Texas at Austin on design thinking, technology, innovation, and human learning.
